What is personal information ?
Personal information means information about an identifiable individual. This includes an individual's name, home address and phone number, age, sex, marital or family status, an identifying number, financial information, educational history, and other information that can be linked to an individual's identity. It does not apply to the information of non-individuals, such as corporations and other business entities and, generally speaking, to business contact information of individuals.
What personal information does N.K.E Group collect ?
N.K.E Group collects only the personal information that it needs for the purposes of providing services to its clients, including personal information needed to :
- Advertise N.K.E Group products and services to its customers
- Advertise employment opportunities within N.K.E Group
- Contact potential applicants in response to resumes submitted
N.K.E Group informs its customers, before or at the time of collecting personal information, of the purposes for which it is collecting that information.
N.K.E Group asks for consent to collect, use or disclose client personal information, except in specific circumstances where disclosure without consent is authorized or required by law. N.K.E Group may assume your consent in cases where you disclose personal information for an obvious purpose.
N.K.E Group asks for your express consent for some purposes and may not be able to provide certain services if you are unwilling to provide consent to the collection, use or disclosure of certain personal information. Where express consent is needed, N.K.E Group will ask customers to provide their consent orally (in person, by telephone), in writing (by signing a consent form, by checking a box on a form), or electronically (by clicking a button).
A customer may withdraw consent to the use and disclosure of personal information at any time, unless the personal information is necessary for N.K.E Group to fulfill its legal obligations. N.K.E Group will respect a customer's decision, but may not be able to provide that customer with certain products and services if it does not have the necessary personal information.
How does N.K.E Group safeguards personal information ?
N.K.E Group makes every reasonable effort to ensure that its customers' personal information is accurate. N.K.E Group relies on its customers to notify it if there is a change to their personal information that may affect their relationship with N.K.E Group. If a customer is aware of an error in the personal information that we have collected about that customer, N.K.E Group should be informed and it will correct it on request wherever possible. In some cases N.K.E Group may ask for a written request for correction.
N.K.E Group protects client personal information in a manner appropriate for the sensitivity of the information. It makes every reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, disclosure or modification of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information. N.K.E Group uses appropriate security measures when destroying customer personal information, including shredding paper records and permanently deleting electronic records.
N.K.E Group retains customer personal information only as long as is reasonable to fulfill the purposes for which the information was collected or for other legal purposes.
Access to records containing personal information
Clients of N.K.E Group have a right of access to their own personal information in a record that is in N.K.E Group's custody or under its control, subject to some exceptions. Organizations are authorized under the Act to refuse access to personal information if disclosure would reveal confidential business information. Access may also be refused if the information is privileged or contained in mediation records.
If N.K.E Group refuses a request in whole or in part, it will provide the reasons for the refusal. In some cases where exceptions to access apply, N.K.E Group may withhold that information and provide the customer with the remainder of the record.
A customer may make a request for access to his/her personal information in writing to N.K.E Group's business manager, who is also N.K.E Group's privacy officer. A customer must provide sufficient information in his/her request to allow N.K.E Group to identify the personal information sought by the customer.
A customer may also request a correction of an error or omission in his/her personal information. N.K.E Group will respond to a customer's request within 45 calendar days, unless an extension is granted. To protect a customer's privacy and security, N.K.E Group takes reasonable steps to verify a customer's identity before granting access to personal information held by N.K.E Group or making corrections. N.K.E Group may charge a reasonable fee to provide information, but not to make a correction. N.K.E Group will advise a customer of any fees that may apply before beginning to process that customer's request.
